The Vintage Radio Story

Vintage Radio was originally setup with help from Help The Aged Wirral. We are a community radio station based on the Wirral. We hope to appeal to people over 50. Just like us! We aren't a commercial station and it was originally funded with a grant from a charity called Help The Aged and ran by a totally unpaid team! We knew that many mature listeners felt that there tastes were not catered for by other radio stations nor was the music that they liked, Or the issues they feel where important could often be overlooked! Vintage radio will be a opportunity for mature people to represent themselves in the way that they want, and in a way over which they have control. Vintage radio aims to entertain and inform. The power of the media means that Vintage Radio's presenters can ask the questions their listeners want answered.

Vintage Radio applied to Ofcom (The Broadcasting regulator) to allow us to run RSL (Restricted Service Licence) on 87.7FM back in Febuary 2009 and this ran for a week. this allowed us to cover a range of 4 miles from our Old Premises on Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead. this covered most of the Wirral Ranging from Crosby and Formby to most of the Wirral Peninsula.

Our aims were to provide the right mix of entertainment and information slanted towards the audience of people over 50,
